Chiliadou – Skaloma – Marathias – Sergoula – Glyfada – Spilia

Using Monastiraki as a base, we may make tours to neighboring villages. 2.5 km. west of Manastiraki we find Chiliadou, a charming fishing village with two-storey, tile-roof houses and a beautiful

beach. The main square, close to the small port, is lined with taverns. I we follow the road to Itea 2.0 km further to the east we find Skaloma, with a narrow beach and crystal clear waters.

Immediately after Skaloma we reach Marathias, a village built in a valley of mulberry and sycamore trees. Marathias stretches along its pebbled beach which is suitable for swimming (only bear in mind that the water is particularly fresh!).

Marathias, the second most popular village after Monastiraki, features general stores, taverns, pubs and cafes. Every March or April Marathias hosts the “Fisherman Fair” , where grilled sardines and wine are offered gratis to all visitors.

The next beach, Sergoula, is considered to be the best in the area. Fine pebbles and turquoise waters which are hard to resist. Sergoula, as well as the neighboring Glyfada and Spila Trizonion offer quite a few options for food.

If you have a boat don’t forget to visit the small caves at Spilia. From the port of Chania, next to Spilia, you may catch a small boat to Trizonia.
